Iowa is a very popular place to be this week.
I would like to be there as well, but not for the caucus. I have high regard for the University of Iowa and the International Writing Program that they deploy across the world. They also offer a two-year residency writer’s program http://writersworkshop.uiowa.edu/
You can find a list of their programs here.
If you’re like me, tied down to your home, good news is here.
Distance learning courses are listed here.
They offer FREE writing workshops via #MOOC courses as well. I advise you check them out if you are interested in some great writing courses. Insight is offered from published writers on the subjects for the particular #MOOC. One course discussed and studied the great poem, Song of Myself by Walt Whitman in the course Every Atom. Here’s a list of the past MOOC courses here.
The last MOOC course I audited was How Writers Write Fiction: the course consisted of informative videos of authors with tips and advice on: character development, plot, technique, style, voice . . . any and all writing concerns you might want to explore. An extra bonus are the forum and boards where people from across the world voice their input, questions, answers, and writing! Critiques are given by fellow writers.
I do not know when the next MOOC course will be listed, but I recommend you check back. It’s a great opportunity to learn from great instructors. If you are able to be a distance learner in one of the writing programs, even better for you.
